Terms of Service

Last updated July 30, 2026

In plain English: Mi Fam is a free app provided as-is. Be kind, only invite real family, don't upload things you don't have the right to share, and understand that we can't guarantee the service will always be available or error-free. You can delete your account and your data at any time.

1. Agreement to these terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a binding agreement between you and the operator of Mi Fam ("Mi Fam", "we", "us"). By creating an account, accepting an invitation, or otherwise using the app, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Statement. If you do not agree, do not use Mi Fam.

2. The service

Mi Fam is a private family coordination app that helps households, grandparents, and extended family branches stay connected through shared calendars, invitations, events, and family updates. Each branch can manage its own life while staying connected to the larger family community.

Mi Fam is provided free of charge. We may add, change, limit, or discontinue features at any time. We are not obligated to keep the service free forever, but we will not begin charging you for a paid feature without telling you first.

3. Eligibility and accounts

  • You must be at least 13 years old to hold your own Mi Fam account.
  • Profiles for children under 13 may exist only as managed profiles created and controlled by a responsible adult in that child's family branch. Children do not receive sign-in credentials or ownership of their profile.
  • By creating or managing a child's profile you confirm you are that child's parent or legal guardian, or that you have their guardian's permission.
  • You are responsible for the accuracy of your account information, for keeping your sign-in credentials secure, and for all activity that occurs under your account.
  • One person, one account. Do not share accounts or impersonate anyone else.

4. Invitations, family branches, and permissions

Mi Fam works through invitations. When you invite someone by email, you are representing that you have a genuine family or household relationship with that person and a legitimate reason to contact them. Do not use invitations to send unsolicited or bulk messages.

Branch admins can manage the profiles, membership, permissions, and content within the branches they administer, including managed profiles for children. Visibility rules (such as maternal/paternal side separation and per-event audience selection) are tools to help you control sharing — but any person who can see content can copy or repeat it. Do not post anything in Mi Fam that would cause harm if it were seen more widely.

5. Your content

You keep ownership of the photos, videos, posts, events, notes, and other content you add to Mi Fam ("Your Content"). By adding Your Content, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, and display it solely for the purpose of operating the app and delivering it to the family members you have chosen to share it with. This license ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies that are already in routine backups and that expire on our normal backup cycle.

You confirm that, for everything you upload, you have the right to share it.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Upload unlawful, harassing, abusive, hateful, threatening, defamatory, sexually explicit, or exploitative content, or any content involving the sexual exploitation of minors.
  • Post another person's private information (including a child's) without their consent or their guardian's consent.
  • Attempt to access accounts, branches, or data you have not been given access to; probe, scan, or test the security of the service; or bypass permission and visibility controls.
  • Scrape, harvest, or bulk-export other people's information.
  • Use Mi Fam for advertising, spam, commercial solicitation, or automated messaging.
  • Upload malware or otherwise interfere with, overload, or disrupt the service.
  • Reverse engineer or attempt to derive source code except to the extent this restriction is prohibited by law.

We may remove content and suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, with or without notice.

7. Not for emergencies or professional advice

Mi Fam is a convenience tool for family coordination. It is not an emergency service, a medical record system, a child-custody or legal-compliance tool, or a source of medical, legal, or financial advice. Never rely on Mi Fam for time-critical, safety- critical, medical, or legally required communication. Reminders, notifications, and invitations may be delayed, duplicated, or not delivered at all.

8. Third-party services

Mi Fam relies on third-party providers for hosting, databases, authentication, email delivery, and file storage, and supports sign-in with Google. Your use of those sign-in options is also governed by that provider's terms and privacy policy. We are not responsible for third-party services.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

Mi Fam is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, secure, timely, error-free, or that any data will be preserved, backed up, or recoverable. You use Mi Fam at your own risk.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Mi Fam and its operator, owners, and contributors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, goodwill, or family or personal relationships, arising out of or related to your use of or inability to use the service, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability for all claims relating to the service will not exceed one hundred U.S. dollars (USD $100), which reflects that Mi Fam is provided to you free of charge.

11. Indemnity

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Mi Fam and its operator from any claims, damages, liabilities, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your content, your use of the service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of the rights of another person — including any claim relating to a child's profile you created or manage.

12. Suspension, termination, and deletion

You may stop using Mi Fam and delete your account and data at any time from Settings. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, that create legal risk, or that are inactive for an extended period. Deletion is permanent — see the Privacy Statement for exactly what is removed.

Sections that by their nature should survive termination (content license for existing backups, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnity, and dispute terms) survive.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, make a reasonable effort to notify you in the app. Continuing to use Mi Fam after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

14. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which the operator resides, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. You agree to first try to resolve any dispute informally by contacting us. If that fails, disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in that state, and you consent to their jurisdiction. You and Mi Fam each waive any right to participate in a class or representative action, to the extent permitted by law.
